Jamaica’s S Hotel is ranked number 39 in the world by the celebrated Condé Nast Traveller in its Best Hotels in the World: 2019 Readers’ Choice Award.
The S Hotel also took top honours as the number one ranked hotel in the Caribbean and Central America with a Score of 98.91, just ahead of The Peninsula House in Dominican Republic which scored 98.9.
Located in the island’s resort city Montego Bay, the hotel was opened earlier this year to rave reviews from guests and travel agents alike.
“At S Hotel you get the laid-back vibe of a stay in Jamaica with a bit of South Beach glitz—they even line the deck of their sleek pool with some of the island’s famous white sand .If that isn’t enough sand for your liking, the hotel also offers private access to idyllic Doctor’s Cave Beach and its gentle surf,” the travel mag shared online.
“Inside, the ocean view rooms are big enough to pass for apartments in some big cities. And they lay a minimalist black and white color scheme over a beachy aesthetic (think, lots of wicker furniture, including covering the bathtub) that will leave you feeling maximally relaxed,” it said of the hotel located on the city’s popular Hip Strip. “If it doesn’t, there’s always the Irie Baths and Spa, which has three underground plunge pools (hot, warm, and cold) that provide kinetic energy therapy and send you out feeling totally relaxed, in addition to the usual the massages and skin treatment options.”
Another Jamaican resort, Kanopi House, ranked sixth in the regional category by garnering a commendable 97.27.
Taking the top five spots globally were the Baur au Lac in Zurich, Switzerland; Taj Lake Palace in India and three American hotels, the SLS Hotel, A Luxury Collection Hotel in Beverly Hills; 1 Hotel West Hollywood and the Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club in Miami.
