After a year since officially launching the Six Senses hotel project, and following the start of work on the property in February this year, Range Developments announced today that has appointed Trinidad-based NH International (Caribbean) Ltd as the lead contractor on the development.
The Six Senses La Sagesse, Grenada resort is the third such project for international property developer, after Park Hyatt St Kitts in 2017 and The Cabrits Resort & Spa Kempinski in Dominica last year, and will cost US$100 million to complete.
At the time that work began on the property, Range informed that the construction should be finished by November 2022. Upon completion, Six Senses La Sagesse, Grenada will offer guests 100 rooms situated on Grenada’s La Sagesse beach.
According to Managing Director of Range Developments Kamal Shehada, “We are excited to welcome the team of NH onboard and entrust them with construction of our third citizenship-by-investment project in the Caribbean. We have already built a successful business relationship with NH and the synergies in our teams’ work will only have a positive impact on the construction process.”
Shehada, who is a member of the board of Range Developments, oversees the construction of the hotels.
The development will create hundreds of jobs for Grenadians, Range Development shares in a release, adding that this was the case in St Kitts and Dominica. After completion, the luxury resort will join the luxury portfolio of Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas — a hotel brand that has received number one hotel brand ranking for the past three years by Travel & Leisure Magazine.
Also commenting on the selection of NH International (Caribbean) Ltd, Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell said, “We are delighted that the project has advanced to this stage. Range [Development] is a key partner in the development of Grenada’s tourism industry bringing much-needed investment and hundreds of employment opportunities for our people given the very challenging environment that we are currently facing. We look forward to the timely completion of this project and the creation of even more employment opportunities for workers in the tourism industry.”
Adding to this, Co-Managing Director of Range Developments Mohammed Asaria explained that NH “committed to hire locally rather than recruit
scores of foreign workers” during the tender process, and that that was a key deciding point.
“Challenging times define companies… Many participants in the citizenship-by-investment Industry have retreated and retrenched. We are fulfilling our commitments to our investors and all stakeholders. It shows why we are the most trusted developer in the sector, but also our confidence in Grenada and its citizenship by investment programme,” Asaria also said.
La Segasse, Grenada forms part of the Eastern Caribbean country’s Citizenship by Investment Programme.
In the meantime, Emile Elias, executive chairman of NH International (Caribbean) Ltd expressed gratitude on behalf of his company to be a part of the construction of the first Six Senses Resort to be built in the Caribbean. He also congratulated both the prime minister and Range Developments for advancing thus far in the construction process.
“We pledge our continuing contribution towards the development potential of Grenada’s tourism sector and look forward to partnering once again with Range Developments on this prestigious initiative that is the epitome of luxury and sustainability,” Elias stated.
