The second case of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been confirmed in Trinidad and Tobago, said the country’s Health Ministry.
Confirmation came late Friday evening, March 13, when the ministry received the positive test result from the Caribbean Public Health Agency.
The patient is a 66-year-old make who travelled in the past 14 days, the ministry said. He presented at a public health facility on Thursday, March 12 and was isolated.
The tracing of people who may have been in close contact with him has begun. Further, all persons who may have been exposed will be quarantined, the ministry said.
Trinidad and Tobago got its first confirmation of a COVID-19 case, a 52-year-old male who travelled to the island from Switzerland, on Thursday.
