Owners of Terra Nova hotel in Kingston to break ground for luxury condos

The Husseys family which owns the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel in Kingston, Jamaica, will on June 1, 2021 break ground for the Residences of Terra Nova, a high-rise adjoining the existing hotel.

The new development, which is being marketed by Coldwell Banker, will see 45 keys added to the existing hotel, plus 14 floors of luxury condominiums, high-end living amenities, and meeting facilities.

According to Wayne Stewart, realtor associate with Coldwell Banker, “The Residences will be the first and only 14-storey residential building in the area and will feature classic, yet contemporary interiors complemented by unprecedented views. The celebrated foundation of luxury offered by the Terra Nova address will reassure and inspire a discerning clientele.”

The owners of the hotel will partner with Merrick Limited on the construction of the Residences of Terra Nova, though they did not share the development cost was not shared.

After the June 1 ground-breaking, the entire property should be ready for occupation in 24 months, or by June 2023.

Stewart also disclosed that in addition to new hotel rooms, the high-rise will feature 61 luxury residences with glass railed balconies, contemporary kitchens, “luxuriously appointed bathrooms”, and access to hotel services.

The development will also feature a health & wellness centre with an air-conditioned glass enclosed gym, outdoor turf-covered yoga zone Zen Meditation Garden, and a relaxing pool, along with an expanse of green space.

The target market for the will be high-end consumers, with one-bedroom units priced between US$306,800 and US$421,600; US$537,800 – US$703,800 for two-bedrooms; US$902,660 for a three-bedroom unit; and US$1,620,720 — US$1,714,298 for the three-bedroom penthouses, which include staff quarters.

The developers promise panoramic views of Jamaica’s Blue Mountains, outdoor bar and grill facilities, and open-air jogging. Residences at Terra Nova will also have of a three-storey parking garage with assigned parking spaces for each unit and direct access from parking floors to residential elevators.

Other features include the residences’ café and a deli & wine shoppe operated by Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel Restaurants.

The Hussey family, led by the matriarch Ruth Hussey, owns and operates the Terra Nova AllSuite Hotel, which opened in 1959. Project architects for the Residences of Terra Nova are Clifton Yap Architects Ltd and Outram Hussey & Associates. Interior designers are Ardelle Dalla Costa Interior and Michelle Subaran. The landscape architect is Viridis Consultants and the project’s financial advisor is Capital Options Ltd.
