ICD Group Holdings Limited (ICD Group) on Monday, January 13, announced its acquisition of an additional 50 per cent shareholding in both Canada-based Advantage Communications Inc (ACI) and its subsidiary ADV Communications Jamaica Ltd (ADV).
With the acquisition, ICD Group is now the sole shareholder in ACI and ADV. The group has retained Kent MacPhee as chairman of both companies.
“We thank our previous partners for their tremendous contribution to the company over the years and are very grateful that Kent has agreed to remain in the role of chairman.”
ICD expressed that it is bullish in the growth of the BPO industry, hence the reason to increase its shareholding in ACI.
The announcement of ICD’s takeover came almost a week after ACI revealed its acquisition of First Kontact LLC — a company domiciled in the state of Nevada and operates a contact centre with 1,000 agents based in Tijuana, Mexico.
“ACI and First Kontact have both been in pursuit of a common mission, centred on empowering our teams and delivering world-class service to clients,” Gregory Hough, president and CEO of ACI, shared in a press release last week.
“This acquisition is a key part of our growth strategy to employ more people in the markets we service and reinvent the contact centre with high-standards of operational excellence, innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence, and omnichannel communications,” he added.
Consequently, ICD Group has acquired a majority shareholding in First Kontact LLC and with it a full range of Spanish- and English-speaking inbound and outbound contact centre services. ACI offers customer service in both English and French
“This acquisition is a key part of our growth strategy to employ more people in the markets we service… ”— Gregory Hough, president and CEO of Advantage Communications Inc
Last week ACI disclosed that First Kontact founder and former CEO Juan Gutiérrez would remain a minority shareholder and continue to play an active role in the company’s growth as an executive and advisor to Hough.
ICD, however, did not disclose if the arrangement with Gutiérrez still stands in light of its acquisition of ACI, ADV and First Kontact.
The group will, nevertheless, continue to offer multilingual contact centre services in North and Central America and the Caribbean through ACI, ADV and First Kontact.
“Clients of Advantage Communications will now have access to increased multilingual customer service representatives, giving them new ways to serve their North and Central American Spanish-speaking customers as well as improving their coverage in the Mexican market and far beyond,” the release from ACI stated.
