Grenadian Senator Roderick St Clair is appealing to residents in his country to support local farmers and fisherfolk in the Yuletide season while underscoring the importance of both industries to the economy.
“As we begin to contemplate family recipes to enjoy this month, this is a great time to recognise the dedication of Grenada’s hard-working farmers and fisherfolk, bringing food to our tables,” he stated.
The senator noted that when Grenadians consider what they will be eating during the festive season, they should be grateful to and for the farmers who produce the food on their plate.
Given the COVID-19 crisis, which has been unprecedented, Senator St Clair said that Grenada’s agriculture and fisheries sectors have made significant contributions in ensuring the nation’s food security.
“Support our farmers and fisherfolk this holiday season. Purchase locally grown vegetables, meats and seafood, and be assured of agriculture’s importance to our nation’s economy and to our quality of life,” the senator appealed.
