Aircraft ground-handling company GCG Ground began operating in Barbados on November 1, 2019, under the brand GCG Ground Services Barbados Ltd.
A member of the Goddard Enterprises Ltd, GCG Ground Services’ new operation will provide a full suite of ground handling and cargo services to both narrow and wide-body aircraft at Grantley Adams International Airport. These include services to leading airlines that land in Barbados such as British Airways, DHL, TUI Group, West Jet, Condor, Caribbean Airlines, Lufthansa, and Eurowings.
“We are happy to expand our operations further into Barbados with the addition to GCG Ground. I look forward to working with the team, as they join our expanding group in the Caribbean, Central and Latin America,” President of GCG Group Paulo Teixeira remarked.
With operations in Jamaica at the Norman Manley and Donald Sangster international airports, the launch of GCG Ground Services Barbados Ltd increases the footprint of the parent company in the Caribbean and Latin America and brings the number of ground handling stations in the group to seven.
The purchase and launch of the new company succeed two other recent acquisitions in Costa Rica and St Lucia.
“This is a great step toward the regional growth strategy for GCG Ground and introduces GCG to an extremely elite group of airlines that serve Barbados. The local team is highly trained, most of them having worked in the industry for several years,” Teixeira outlined.
