Regional online payment company WiPay and Mexican-based fintech Cashy are partnering to bring cash back offers to the Caribbean whilst driving more paying customers to local businesses across the region.

Such a move is seen as important for businesses and consumers across the Caribbean as they recover from the novel coronavirus pandemic. Cashy is an early payment discount platform that helps Mexican companies settle discounts for early settlement of customers’ invoices, while WiPay — which recently moved its head office from Trinidad to Jamaica — is the Caribbean’s largest online payment solutions company and a MasterCard partner.

Mastercard teams up with WiPay to establish greater Caribbean presence

WiPay operates in a number of Caribbean territories, including Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados, Guyana, and St Lucia. The benefits of this new partnership include:

  • Cashy will launch cash back offers to over 50 million American travellers to the Caribbean.
  • WiPay merchants will have their businesses and offers advertised to a massive new audience.
  • The Cashy “Pay on Performance” model means zero risk to the businesses but the best benefit of all to these businesses which is more revenue driven.

In commenting on the new partnershipm Clay Sigurdson, president/founder at Cashy, said, “We couldn’t be more excited to work with WiPay and their extensive business reach in the Caribbean”. He stated that, “WiPay is the perfect partner for Cashy to launch cash back offers in the Caribbean with”.

For his part, Aldwyn Wayne, CEO at WiPay, said, “WiPay is pleased to extend the American cash back network to the Caribbean. American consumers will be able to enjoy the same cash back reward benefits they enjoy while shopping in the States right here in the Caribbean”.

He added, “what this means, is that If your business uses WiPay and someone from the States, using an American card with cash back features enabled, they will be able to get cash back as a reward from spending at your location”,

WiPay Jamaica Country Manager Kibwe McGann pointed to the benefits to be accrued from this partnership.
He made the point that, “in the Caribbean, tourism is big business. With travel numbers bouncing back to pre-COVID numbers in many island territories, the timing of the partnership couldn’t be more. I’m especially excited for our WiPay Jamaica merchants”.
